Happy Homemaker Monday – May 3rd!

Posted in Faith, Homechooling, Homemaking at 1:14 pm by Stacy

The weather in my neck of the woods:BEAUTIFUL!!!!  I think spring has finally came!   While it is going to get a little cooler towards mid week there is no snow in the forecast!

Things that make me happy: The planning of our next school year.   Only three more things to get.  A bible study curriculium, I’m thinking of this oneStory of the World to help enhance our Sonlight Core 1 and I’m thinking Apologia Astronomy.

Book I’m reading: Doctrine by Mark Driscoll, it is so good, but very deep.   I find I can’t read it at night because I don’t want to stop!  It gets my mind going and then it can’t shut off to go to sleep. I am also going to work on finishing up his book The Radical Reformission. I also am reading The Story of Doctor Dolittle with the kids.   It’s a really fun book.

What I’m enjoying on TV: Bethel Boy and I have been watching the Amazing Race together.  It’s great to point out where places are on the map and learn a little about other culture.  I joke and say we are doing history.

On the menu for dinner: A ham and cheese crust-less quiche and a salad.

On my To Do List: Start running again.  I have 7 weeks to do the couch to 5K progam to run in a Father’s Day 5K.   Bethel Daddy wants that to be my father’s day present to him.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon: Can’t really think of any.  We are trying to eat healthier so I know it won’t be baking anything.

In the craft basket: I might try to make Bethel Girl and I matching skirts/dresses for Mother’s day.

Looking forward to this week: Wednesday I don’t have my daycare kids.  I’m celebrating that!  Also, I only have 18 more days.  I have realized that our family can not homeschool and do daycare at the same time.

Tips and Tricks: Can’t think of anything.

My favorite blog post this week: This post by Weird, Unsocialized Homeschoolers had me shouting a hearty, AMEN!

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers): This is one of THE best blogs about homeschooling.   I have came up with quite a few ideas from reading her post.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days:
Rest and taking care of myself helps me take care of others.

On my mind: How to become more disciplined in my own personal bible study time.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses: Deuteronomy 6: 1 – 9

(1)”Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess

(2) that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.

(3) Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you–‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’

(4) “Hear, O Israel:  The LORD our God, the LORD [is} one!

(5) You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.

(6) And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart

(7) You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.

(8) You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

(9) You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
