No Running, but lots of work

Posted in Faith at 8:43 pm by Stacy

We are getting ready for a little vacation of sorts.  As part of our leaving there is many, many things that need to be done and until yesterday really couldn’t be done with the weather.    So today we have spent the majority of today outside.   Raking and burning pine needles, mowing grass, setting up the sprinklers, clearing the natural insulation from the rose bushes.

While we have many, many things done there are still many things to do this week.

So while an actual workout didn’t get done, lots of activity took place and with the run yesterday I’m a tired girl.

Homeschool Mother’s Journal

Posted in Faith, Homechooling at 8:44 pm by Stacy

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week… I saw an end to our busyness that we have had for the last 6 weeks.   Bethel Boy’s biology class ended so we aren’t going to be in town ALL DAY on Wednesday.   Instead of “carschooling” and “library schooling” we will actually be home schooling!

In our homeschool this week… We received the log in information for our new math program from our Charter.   I’m excited to get started on it next week.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing… this week we are getting a special visit from the college kid that used to live next to us.

My favorite thing this week was… realizing we are hitting a great grove with schooling.

What’s working/not working for us… joining the charter school has really worked for us.   We have a great teacher and we get to use the curriculum that I want to use, but have that support from a teacher.

Homeschool questions/thoughts I have… I guess the question that comes up this time of year – what are we doing for next school year?

A photo, video, link, or quote to share… I just love this video and am so thankful that Bethel Daddy chooses to dance with me everyday.

Happy Homemaker Monday – February 7th.

Posted in Faith, Family, Homemaking at 7:14 am by Stacy

HHM

The weather in my neck of the woods: Unseasonable warm.   Mid 50’s and very sunny.   We need some snow and rain!

Things that make me happy: Giving my husband a hug as he comes home from a long day at work.  Listening to my childrens laughter.

Book I’m reading:I have fallen in love with Susan Elizabeth Phillips.   Her books are just delightful.

What’s on my TV today: Nothing, we turned off cable about a month ago and the kids will watch things on netflix streaming, and usually Bethel Daddy and I will plug in our laptop to the tv and watch NCIS and NCIS: LA, but other than that we aren’t doing a bunch of tv.

On the menu for dinner: Chicken Tender Parmesan & Penne, Caesar Salad, & Garlic Bread

On my To Do List: Clean house!  YUCK!, We need to school and I need to work a few hours today.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon: Nothing really, I haven’t really been looking at new things, just trying to keep things that I know since we are really busy.

In the craft basket: I have been working on an afghan that I’m crocheting, I have a dress that I need to do some alterations on a dress for a friend who is in a local musical production.

Looking forward to this week: I really enjoy our Wednesdays, even though we are gone from the house from 9:00 until about 2:30, the kids really enjoy their classes that day and I enjoy the two hours that I have that are “free” – no kids and I can just relax and either work or read.

Tips and Tricks: I don’t really have any.

My favorite blog post this week: I haven’t really been blog reading lately.  I have over 400 post in my blog reader – I just need to empty it out and start over again.

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers): See above answer  😉

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days: Take the time to go away with your husband, it will make you a better wife, mother and most of all together a better couple.

On my mind: The need to fold lots and lots of laundry, the need to school and work with the kids on cleaning their room.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses: I am working on memorizing Colossians this year.  I’ve made it to verse 4.   Here is what I’ve memorized so far:

Colossians 1:1-4

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To Gods holy people in Colossae, the faithful brothers and sisters in Christ: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.  Thanksgiving and Prayer We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all Gods people-

Posted in Faith, Family at 8:47 pm by Stacy

While this wasn’t our first day of vacation, it was actually the 2nd day, but we had a wonderful time heading to the sled hill.   Several families came from our church and it was a wonderful day at the local sled hill.  Here are the highlights.

Bethel Girls Rosy Cheeks

Bethel Girl head first

Bethel Boy saying "I'm ok!"

Bethel Daddy Head First

Our whole wonderful sledding group

Tomorrow I will share pictures of the best Christmas present ever!

Happy New Year 2011

Posted in Faith, Family at 9:54 pm by Stacy

To say that 2010 has flown by would be an understatement.  I’m finding that the older my children get the busier I become keeping up with their activities.   2011 starts off with a new direction with school, dance, piano, AWANA and basketball.

Trying to find time for the things I enjoy just don’t always seem to fit into the busy schedule.   I know it’s just a stage of life that we are in and in too short of time it will be all over and I will have the all the time in the world to sew, clean, read and keep up with the laundry.

But for now, 2011, I will enjoy mornings with my children as we school (even though it’s not always enjoyable and there is lots of whining from me), I will enjoy our 10th year of marriage and focus on loving my husband even more, I will do laundry when I have time and hope that our best clothes are washed for when we go into town, I will cheer my kids on at dance, sports and piano and most of all I will try to live this year making this my prayer: “O, for grace to trust Him more.”

Random Dozen – October 20th

Posted in Faith at 9:56 pm by Stacy

1. Do you prefer to read the book or see the movie?  I love reading books and always enjoy them more than the movies.

2. What is your favorite holiday and why?  I love Christmas.  I’ve always been one who hasn’t been able to sleep on Christmas eve, now that I have kids it is still very magical.

3. Which do you like better – the mountains or the beach?  I love the mountains, especially with where we live.  The beach is nice to visit, but I love everything about the mountains.

4. If money were no consideration, what vehicle would you drive?  A newer Ford 350 Crew Cab truck, towing a trailer so we can go camping as often as possible.

5. What is your favorite cold-weather beverage?  Decaf Chai tea with a touch of cream.

6. How do you communicate most often with your friends: phone, email, text, face-to-face, or Facebook?  Most people through Facebook, with my mom – phone or texting.

7. How do you receive your mail? Mailbox on the porch, at the end of the driveway, down the street, or post office box?  Mailbox at the end of the driveway.

8. Of the four basic personality types – sanguine, phlegmatic, melancholic, and choleric – which is your strongest? Which is your least evident? My strongest is melancholic and the least evident is sanguine.

9. What do you miss the most about being 20?  Honestly nothing.   I have loved my 30’s so much more.

10. How long from the time you get up, does it take you to get ready to walk out the door in the morning?  Well since most days we don’t walk out the door until the late morning or afternoon I really don’t know.   But if I have to get myself and the kids ready it most likely takes us 1 1/2 hours.

11. Who handles the car maintenance and pays the bills in your family?  Car Maintenance is handled by our mechanic that goes to our small group, I’m the one that is usually talking to him about what is wrong.  I also pay the bills in the family.

12. For those in the US, how many states have you visited? For those outside the US, how many provinces/other countries have you visited?  Quite a few, when I was 4 years old we drove Oregon to Virginia and took the northern route, when we came back in a year or so later we took the southern route.  I’ve also been to Hawaii.

The Simple Woman’s Daybook, October 12th

Posted in Faith at 9:58 am by Stacy

FOR TODAY

Outside my window…  Are beautiful blue skies, chilly fall mornings and Indian Summer afternoons.

I am thinking… of how much needs to get done before we move, yet trying to remember that it is one day at a time.

I am thankful for…my wonderful husband.  It was so good to have some time yesterday with him without the kids.  Even if it was just sitting next to each other in the movie theater.

From the learning rooms…AWANA verses need to be practiced for tonight.

From the kitchen… I need to make zucchini muffins and for dinner tonight is PW’s Chicken Spaghetti

I am wearing… Jeans and t-shirt, tennis shoes.

I am creating… I’m making these for my mom’s birthday present, need to get it done ASAP – in between packing, schooling, AWANA obligations and cleaning the house.

I am going… to try to get to bed at a decent hour each day this week.

I am reading… all the magazines that I have around here so that we don’t have to move them.

I am hoping… that through all the stress that moving can have that Bethel Daddy and I remain connected.

I am hearing…  the tv on.   We had such a busy weekend we are all kind of relaxing today.

Around the house…  are messes and boxes and stuff – oh my!

One of my favorite things… is being my kids’ momI’m very blessed.

A few plans for the rest of the week:  schooling, packing, cleaning – oh my!  😉

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…(add your picture here)

My kids with their cousin.
