Happy Homemaker Monday – October 25th

Posted in Fun, Homemaking at 9:22 pm by Stacy

The weather in my neck of the woods: Yippy, fall is here in Northeastern California.  But it’s almost winter like.  I love it!

Things that make me happy: Walking into our new house and envisioning our family living there.  Just two more days until we are all moved in.

Book I’m reading: I’ve been trying to read a chapter or two of my bible each evening.

What’s on my TV today: Right now I’m watching Dancing With the Stars.  Love it.

On the menu for dinner: I made green chili & egg casserole tonight.  It was yummy.

On my To Do List: Move, move, move!  Settle, settle, settle.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon: I’m excited to try some new ones after we are settled into the new house.

In the craft basket: Nothing, it’s packed away at the moment  🙂
Looking forward to this week: Being in our new house and having every thing clean and out of our old house.

Tips and Tricks: I don’t have anything this week.  Maybe in a few weeks after we are settled into our new home.

My favorite blog post this week: I don’t really have anything because I haven’t been keeping up with blog reading this week.

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers): I just haven’t had time to find any new ones.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share): My camera is at the new house and I took a picture today of our pantry and then left the camera and card up there.

Lesson learned the past few days: The Lord really knows what we can handle and doesn’t give us more than we can.

On my mind: If you can’t tell – our move and new house.  Also hoping that I get some relief from this sinus headache that I’ve had for the last week.  I’m going to the doctor tomorrow because I think I have a sinus infection.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses: Acts 4:12 – Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.

Random Dozen – October 5th

Posted in Fun at 9:43 pm by Stacy

Please leave comments as you visit! Bloggers live for comments!

1. From “Men Are Dumb ….”: If you had a theme song that played whenever you walked into a room full of people, what would it be?  I have no ideaI don’t listen to much “mainstream” music, mostly I listen to Christian music, and most of those aren’t about people.

2. From Pam of “Alert And Oriented x 4”: Which of your shoes are your absolute favorite, and which are of the object of your most painful shoe-buyer’s remorse?  My favorite pair of shoes are a pair of Nikes that I wear most every day.  I bought a pair of shoes from Lands End last year that are cute, but make my feet hurt.

3. From Susanne of “Living to Tell the Story”: Tell about your favorite birthday celebration that you’ve personally experienced.  It would have to be when my son was born, he was born the day before my 30th birthday and even though I was in the hospital for my birtheday (it was a c-section) it was wonderful to finally be a mom.

4. From Lori of “Just me and My Life”: If you were a flavor of ice cream, which would you be?  Vanilla – I’m pretty plain and straight forward.

5. Cindy Swanson of “Notes in the Key of Life” asks: Have you ever had a crush on a movie star? Who was it, and are you still crushing?  Oh my….I just love Daniel Craig. Something about those eyes.

6. Jill from “Jill Boyd’s Place” inquires: Glasses or braces–if you had to wear one, which would it be?  Glasses, since I already wear them.   My teeth are pretty good and I don’t need braces.

7. Nel from “Fasteneau Facts” asks: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?    I would want to live closer to my parents.

8. Thena from “Patiently Waiting” wants to know: If money were no obstacle, what would be the perfect birthday gift to receive?  Furniture.

9. From “Life Through Bifocals,” LynnMarie asks: What is your favorite birthday meal?  A steak my husband has BBQ’d for me.

10. Debby at “Just Breathe” checks in with: Do you still send hand-written thank you notes?  Sometimes.

11. Linda from “Mocha with Linda” poses this question: What is something you’ve done that you never thought you’d do?  Lose 100 lbs.

12. Jewel, my homegirl from Indiana who writes at “Musings from the World of Jewel,” is very insistent that we answer this: Mount Rushmore honors four US Presidents: Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. If you could add any person to Mount Rushmore, who would you add and why?  Regan – He was a great conservative president.

Happy Homemaker Monday – September 6

Posted in Faith, Family, Fun, Homemaking at 9:50 pm by Stacy

The weather in my neck of the woods: Fall is in the air!  Tomorrow will be in the mid 70’s and then rain and cool temps Wednesday and Thursday and then a warm up for the weekend.

Things that make me happy: Being able to stay at home and school my kids.  I just love the time we spend together.

Book I’m reading:
A Lady of Hidden Intent by Tracie Peterson

What I’m enjoying on TV: Nothing!  Since we shut off the dish it’s kind of been nice.

On the menu for dinner: My husband grilled steaks that were wonderful!

On my To Do List: Laundry,  and prep for school

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon: Don’t really have one.

In the craft basket: Nothing, I just don’t have time to sew.

Looking forward to this week: AWANA starting!

Tips and Tricks: Plastic storage containers make packing for camping nice and easy.

My favorite blog post this week: Nothing, we were busy living life this past week and I really didn’t get to read very many other blogs.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share): I’m having issues posting a picture, maybe later.

Lesson learned the past few days: Try things again, just because you had a bad experience once doesn’t mean that the people are the same or that you are the same.  You might just have fun!

On my mind: If we will get the house that we want.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:

The verses that I need to memorize for AWANA – by tomorrow.
1Cor 15:3-4  – For what I received onto you as of first importance:  that Christe died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was burried and that He was raised on the third day according to the scriptures.
Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned and follen short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord
Act 16:31 – They replied, “Believe in the Lord and you will be saved – you and your household.”

Five Question Friday

Posted in Fun at 3:38 pm by Stacy

1. Do you have any nicknames and if so how did it come about?  Not really, just the shortened version of my name.  Stace

2. What is your birth order amongst your siblings?  I am the oldest, smartest and the wisest among my brother who is the middle child and 4 years younger and my sister who is 6 years younger.

3. In a movie of your life, who would play your significant other?   Looking at this website had me laughing.  I was trying to find a bald man.  Some of the first actors they brought up made me laugh and were way off base.   I guess my husband would have to play my husband in the movie of my life…who better fit for the job?

4. What is currently your favorite song?  This song by David Crowder Band.   It just makes me happy!

5. Are you saving your money for anything right now? Big or small purchase?  Just Christmas.

Random Dozen

Posted in Family, Fun at 9:35 pm by Stacy

I’m so glad that Linda is back to doing the Random Dozen.  It’s just a fun meme to do.
1. What is your favorite fair/carnival food?  I have two, an Indian taco and Hawaiian shaved ice.

2. Are you holding onto something you need to let go of?  Such a deep question.  I might need to pray through this and come back and re-answer it.

3. What is your favorite gift to receive?  Money – then I can buy whatever I want.

4. When was the last time you tried something new?  Today I took a 20 pound box of peaches and pealed them all, cut them up and froze them.   Tomorrow I’m going to make refrigerator pickles – both things that are new for me to take the time and prepare for the winter.

5. What is your favorite and least favorite book genre?  I just love me some Christian Romance books.   My least favorite would be Sci-fy or Mysteries.

6.Silver or Gold?  Yellow gold.

7. What makes you sigh?  My son and his Star Wars obsession.   I’m trying to be better so at night right now I’m reading him a Star Wars book.

8. If you didn’t know how old you are, how old would you claim you are?  Early to mid 30’s.

9. Would you break a law to save a loved one? To protect a loved one?  To save a loved one – you betcha.  To protect – probably not, because would that be enabling them instead of protecting them?  Sometimes we have to use a little tough love and let consequences happen.
10. If you had to teach something, what would it be?  Sewing

11. You’re having lunch with 3 people whom you respect and admire. They begin to criticize a close friend of yours, not knowing she is your friend. What do you do?  Probably not say very much and loose respect and admiration for those 3 people.  I would probably point out that we don’t always know all the sides to the story.
12. Which of the 5 Love Languages is your prominent means of experiencing love?  Words of Affirmation with Quality Time a close second.

Happy Homemaker Monday!

Posted in Faith, Family, Fun, Homemaking at 8:55 pm by Stacy

The weather in my neck of the woods: Warm with afternoon thunderstorms.

Things that make me happy:
Reading to my children.

Book I’m reading: I’m in between books at the moment.  I’m starting Shades of Blue by Karen Kingsbury.

What I’m enjoying on TV:
Nothing really.  It’s hardly on anymore.

On the menu for dinner:
For dinner tomorrow night I think I’m going to do a green chili casserole.

On my To Do List:
I need to clean the living room, sweep the kitchen area and do laundry.   I need to school the kids.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
Don’t really have one.  Probably the one I find for the green chili casserole.

In the craft basket: I sewed Bethel Girl a cute short and top outfit for her birthday.  I still have material for a dress for her and a matching skirt for me and a night gown for her.
Looking forward to this week: Payday!  LOL  Since my husband works for the state of CA it’s the first full paycheck he’s received in over 18 months!

Tips and Tricks: Only because I haven’t been doing it lately and it’s been piling up.   Fold those clothes as soon as they come out of the dryer.   So much easier to deal with one load than folding 2 or 3 at once.

My favorite blog post this week: This blog post about God valuing what’s on the inside which led me to this article.   It’s really meaty and it’s taken me forever to read it (I’m still not finished with it).  It talks about 7 major blind spots of homeschoolers.

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days: There are many people in my community that need to know about Jesus.

On my mind: How much I love sitting in the quiet instead of having the noise of the tv on.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:

1 Samuel 16:7  But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

It’s Happy Homemaker, Meal Plan & Mingle Monday

Posted in Faith, Family, Fun, Homechooling, Homemaking at 2:45 pm by Stacy

Our Homeschool Home

The weather in my neck of the woods: This last week it’s been HOT, HOT, HOT.  Temps in the high 90’s and staying hot all day and night.  Looks like a slight cooling trend is coming our way – mid 80’s this week.

Things that make me happy: How wonderful my husband is and how much of a hands on father he is.  He was gone one night this weekend and the kids and I missed him so much.

Book I’m reading: I’m on a  Nicholas Sparks kick right now and I just started Dear John.

What I’m enjoying on TV: I just finished watching Leap Year, it’s a little boring.  We are actually cutting the satellite today.   Both Bethel Daddy and I have decided that we all watch too much tv, that the kids are becoming dissatisfied with what they have and that we want to encourage more reading and interacting as a family.

On the menu for dinner: (I just realized that I can do Meal Plan Monday right here)  For this week I have Bacon Wrapped Chicken, Tri-tip dip sandwiches, Turkey Sloppy Joes,  and enchiladas.  We are eating at our local fair on Thursday for Bethel Girl’s 5th Birthday and Friday and Saturday we will just do leftovers/find what you can because one night I’m working at the fair selling tickets and Bethel Daddy is working at the Indian Taco Booth on Saturday night.

On my To Do List: Sew a little birthday outfit for Bethel Girl.  It’s a cute pink shorts and the top is pink and has cupcakes on it.  It’s for her to wear on her birthday.

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon: This Magic Mix looks very interesting.

In the craft basket: Bethel Girl’s short and top for her birthday and hopefully I will also have time to sew her a new nightgown.  With school starting I just didn’t have enough time to sew last week.

Looking forward to this week: The whole week.  We have fun things planned.  Tuesday we are having birthday cake for Bethel Girl’s birthday with our small group, Wednesday Bethel Girl is performing for dance at the fair and on Thursday we will go to the fair and enjoy a family evening with the kids for Bethel Girl’s birthday.   That’s what she chose to do.

My favorite blog post this week: I loved this one about unexpected fruit from Mary @ Owlhaven.

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers): I found a great blog this week during The HomeSchool Village Thursday Link-up.  It’s called The Architect and The Artist

No words needed (favorite photo or picture, yours or others you want to share):

Lesson learned the past few days: Parenting is hard work! (or maybe it’s heart work).

On my mind: Our pastor’s sermon from Sunday morning.  It was powerfully good! and we’ve already started making changes in how we live our life.

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses: Proverbs 4:23 – Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.

Post Birthday, Vacation Five Question Friday

Posted in Faith, Family, Fun at 7:27 pm by Stacy

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at Bethel Home.   Bethel Daddy had two weeks off from work and for the first week we stayed at home and did things that needed to be done around here.  We also went to the City to do birthday shopping.   We have three birthdays this month – Bethel Boy on the 2nd and mine is the 3rd and Bethel Girl’s is on the 22nd.   We do a lot of celebrating during the month of July.   After celebrating our birthdays and then the4th of July we took a trip up to the lake to spend a few days.  We ended up coming home early because Bethel Daddy and I got a nasty cold virus.  After running out of tissues and in the need of medication we decided to pack the kids up and come home.

Monday we all go back to reality.  Bethel daddy goes to work and the kids and I start our 2nd year of homeschooling.   This weekend is just enjoying the last few days of this slower pace life.

Here is a picture of us while we at the lake.

Now to answer a few questions:

1. What is one food you could eat everyday?  Cheese. Oh my goodness I love cheese.

2. Are you working in the career you thought you would be when you were 18?  I am doing what I wanted to when I was 18, but I never thought that I would actually get to do it!  I am blessed to be able to stay home with my kids, home educate them.   Because I didn’t get married until I was almost 30, for many years I never thought I would be doing what I’m doing.

3. What is something that you wish you would have done when you were younger and you didn’t?  Finish my college degree.   I have about a year and a half to finish up a degree in accounting.

4. What color are your kitchen walls?  Plain ol’ off white.

5. Do you remember what your very first favorite song was?  The first song that came to mind was a song that I listened to in Jr High – 99 Red Ballons.

Simple Woman’s Daybook

Posted in Faith, Family, Fun, Homechooling, Homemaking at 5:17 pm by Stacy

Outside my window… the sky is the perfect summer blue and the sun shining.

I am thinking… that I’m so thankful that I finally cleaned off my desk.

I am thankful for… my husband having two weeks off.

From the learning rooms…(if this applies) planning for next “year” is taking place.

From the kitchen… everything is ready for our potluck with our tonight with our small group.

I am wearing… a black t-shirt and my black and white floral skirt I made last summer.

I am creating… mini offices for my kids.

I am going… for a nice walk tomorrow with my friend.

I am reading… Beezus and Ramona with the kids.

I am hoping… that the State of California passes a budget and we get our full pay back.

I am hearing… the swamp cooler fan blowing.  Thank you Jesus for that sound and the cool breeze it produces!

Around the house… the dogs are relaxing.

One of my favorite things… being with my husband.  He really is my best friend.

A few plans for the rest of the week… are to enjoy relaxing tomorrow, birthday shopping with Bethel Daddy on Thursday and celebrating Bethel Boy’s birthday on Friday.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing…(add your picture here)
